About Us
The Campaign Ahead
At lot is at stake in 2020. We can all agree that we need a Democratic senator to represent Maine. Out-of-state money is pouring in to support Senator Collins’ reelection. Democrats cannot win back the Senate without defeating Susan Collins. There are currently four candidates running to run for US Senate as a Democrat in 2020. The primary election is set for June 6 as of March 24th.
The biggest challenge for Maine and all Democrats is to increase voter turnout in 2020 to defeat President Trump. Grassroots canvassing has already begun to get and keep voters excited about electing a Democrat to the White House. It is going to take many volunteer hours to get the job done. We hope you will support those local volunteers by giving to our ‘2020 Vision’ fundraising campaign.
About the Seacoast Democratic Joint Campaign Committee
In 2018, democratic leaders from the towns of Eliot, Kittery, Ogunquit, South Berwick and York came together to establish a local office in support of our democratic candidates. It was funded by contributions from the York County Democratic Committee, the town committees and private donations. We established a steering committee to manage operations. Many people volunteered to assist with day to day office coverage, canvassing, mailings, and “Get Out the Vote” activities. The result — democrats won every seat supported from the office.
Steering Committee members continued to work together throughout 2019 to formalize a new organization called the Seacoast Democratic Joint Campaign Committee. We will be going by the name Seacoast Democrats. Bylaws have been written and officers elected. If we are to achieve Democratic objectives in 2020, we need your help in both time and talents.
Early Background of Seacoast Dems and a note of thanks to State Rep., Lydia Blume, for conferring the Seacoast Democrats name to this new organization. While the Seacoast Democratic Joint Campaign Committee is not organized the same as the original Seacoast Dems, Rep. Blume and the late Neil Rolde were the founders of the original Seacoast Democrats which helped area Democratic candidates get elected and fed the growth of Democratic town committees in Southern York county for over a decade.
